Nicole
Miller.

From New York to Sydney · 45 years in fashion

Celebrating 45 years in the fashion industry, legendary New York designer Nicole Miller returns to My Charity Runway to open Sydney Fashion Week by MCR 2027.

Travelling from New York to Sydney as My Charity Runway’s Honorary International Designer, Nicole found an Australian welcome shaped by creativity, community and charitable purpose. For the 2026 show, she revisited archive designs associated with Naomi Campbell in 1992, Angelina Jolie in 2005 and Kathryn Newton in 2026.

From backstage fittings to the final runway walk, her published account celebrates fashion’s optimism and the connections made along the way. In July 2027 she returns to open the founding festival at The Cutaway, Barangaroo.

Heritage beneath us.
The future around us.

Beneath Barangaroo Reserve, sculptural timber forms, expansive skylights and exposed sandstone make a distinctive setting for fashion and cultural connection. A Sydney space shaped by Country and connection to place.

Bridging cultures / Sydney ↔ New York

Two cities.
An open conversation.

Sydney’s diverse creative communities and New York’s international fashion perspective meet through a shared language: design. Sydney Fashion Week by MCR builds on that connection, bringing different experiences, cultural identities and ways of seeing into conversation.

The ambition is exchange in both directions — introducing international perspectives to Sydney while giving emerging Australian designers a platform to share their own. First Nations voices and the city’s multicultural communities are part of that conversation, not a footnote.

From the Day 2 designer showcases to the Global Village closing presentation, the festival asks how fashion can express where we come from — and the future we want to share.

Our founding story

My Charity Runway.

Founded by Sarah Quinn, My Charity Runway brought designers, charities and audiences together for a night of fashion with purpose in Sydney in 2026.

That founding impact platform continues within SYDFW. The 2027 opening presentation is a dedicated fundraiser for brighter futures for children, distinct from the designer showcases and closing celebration.
